Charlotte residents will soon have a new way to secure sun-kissed skin without the harmful effects of traditional UV tanning. Offering the nation’s first airbrush spray tan made with all-natural, paraben-free, organic ingredients, a new Charlotte tanning salon location of Organic Bronze Bar is set to open doors in Providence Plaza in September, serving SouthPark and the surrounding community with a fresh tanning experience in a sleek salon setting. The opening marks the second in Charlotte for Organic Bronze Bar, which has an existing location in Ballantyne.
Organic Bronze Bar’s exclusive spray tan formula is vegan, gluten free and includes no harsh chemicals or preservatives. The solution is comprised of naturally derived seaweed extract, coconut oil, Echinacea extract, anti-oxidants and pure botanicals along with 75 more anti-aging and hydrating ingredients that leave skin with a radiant, natural-looking bronze glow. Customers also benefit from a moisturizing SPF 15 protection built into the bronzer to keep skin healthy and feeling like silk.
“We really saw a gap in service for consumers looking to capture a healthy glow without being exposed to harmful chemicals or UV rays,” said Cortney Carty, owner of Organic Bronze Bar SouthPark Charlotte. “As a customer first, I was blown away by the experience at Organic Bronze Bar. Not only can you feel good about the product you are using, but the sophisticated setting and customized treatment elevate the tanning process and ensure your skin looks and feels its best.”
After customizing the tanning solution to achieve the desired look – accommodating very light skin to naturally dark skin – each airbrush spray tan at Organic Bronze Bar is hand-applied by a professional airbrush tan specialist to ensure the right amount of coverage in each area. By eliminating the one-size-fits-all spray booth machines, tan specialists create a streak-free, evenly-distributed tan perfectly tinted to match your skin type.
Part of Organic Bronze Bar’s mission is to help combat skin cancer by educating consumers on the risks of UV exposure and providing tools to protect your body. Organic Bronze Bar donates a portion of proceeds to skin cancer research, hosts educational events, partners with the medical community to provide skin checks and offers an array of healthy skincare products available for purchase in-store.
“As a longtime Charlotte resident, I am thrilled to share this concept with the SouthPark community,” said Carty. “We are especially proud of our cruelty-free Leaping Bunny (PETA), Vegan, Gluten Free and Paraben Free seals. Keeping our focus on health and a continual commitment to improving the tanning experience is what sets Organic Bronze Bar apart and makes it a go-to source for skincare services in the area.”
Carty has teamed up with Charlotte native Jennifer Elgamal to bring Organic Bronze Bar to SouthPark. As a corporate career woman and successful investor, Carty sees a huge opportunity to expand the presence of one of her favorite brands in Charlotte and surrounding areas. Elgamal brings almost 20 years of experience as a licensed esthetician to her new role managing the salon’s day-to-day operations. Her industry expertise, which includes managing sales for Benefit Cosmetics and Anastasia Beverly Hills as well as owning and running her own salon, Jenn’s Studio, will prove invaluable to the OBB team of spray tan artists in Charlotte.

Organic Bronze Bar’s top priority is the safety of its staff and guests. The salon will be taking extra precautions to guard against the transmission of COVID-19 including temperature checks at the door, requiring staff to wear face masks inside the store at all times, and maintaining physical distance whenever possible. Booking appointments online is strongly encouraged in order to limit the number of guests visiting at one time, but tanning walk-ins will be allowed if sufficient space is available.
