Spray Tanning FAQs

Q: I had a bad experience with a spray tan before, should I assume spray tanning is not for me?

A: There are many factors that could’ve affected your tan, including the solution used, the skill of the technician if applied by a person, or the condition of your skin. At Organic Bronze Bar have trained, skilled technicians, and retail products to prep your skin for an even tan.

Q: Does the solution have an unpleasant smell like some self-tanners on the market?

A: We have an unscented solution that allows you to continue on with the rest of your day without that potent smell some self-tanners have. Some people may notice a slight scent due to the way the chemicals in their skin react with the ingredients in the solution.

Q: Will spray tan protect me from getting a sunburn?

A: It is always important to wear additional SPF to protect your skin, however, we do offer a solution with SPF 15 that will protect your skin for a few hours.

Q: What can I do to assure that I get the best spray tan?

A: EXFOLIATE! The shallower the dead skin layer on the surface of your skin, the more time it will take for this layer to build up before it naturally rubs off. That means, the better the exfoliation, the more even your tan will be, and the longer it will last!

Q: How Brown will I get?

A: Everybody’s skin type is different. Depending on your ethnic background, and how well you tan in the sun, will determine what color your technician chooses, as we can customize your tan. IF YOU SPRAY TAN REGULARLY, YOUR SKIN WILL GET USED TO THE SOLUTION, AND STARTS TO DEVELOP MORE COLOR!

Q: How long will my tan last?

A: Depending on how well you prepare your skin, and take care of your tan afterwards, about 5-10 days. It is important during the winter months to double the amount you moisturize.

Q: How soon after the spray can I shower?

A: Leave the solution on for at least 4 hours, but if you can wait 6-8 hours you may see better results.

Q: My Spray tan looks different than my previous one – even though it was done by the same technician with the same solution?

A: The most probable cause is the condition of your skin. Your skin is a living organism, and is affected by what you eat, the time of year, time of the month, stress, medication, ect.

Q: What if I have very fair skin that has never been able to tan?

A: This is why spray tanning was invented!!! If you look like snow white, you aren’t going to leave looking like a brazilian model, lets be realistic. But, you will have a beautifully natural glow that will have you booking your next appointment before your tan dries!

Q: What are some factors that could make my tan fade faster?

A: Hot tubs, chlorine, salt water, working out, and hot water contribute to fading a spray tan faster. For up to 4 hours after your spray tan, avoid getting wet. No working out, no showering, and avoid sweating!

Q: Can I spray tan if I’m pregnant?

A: It is always important to talk to your doctor for approval. We can do a test spot on the skin, as increased hormones tend to make a woman more sensitive to product. However, the spray tan does not penetrate into the bloodstream, it only stains the skin, making it a safe treatment. Our solution has organic and natural ingredients, but to avoid inhalation, a mask can be provided.
